Hurricane season is ramping up again. Prepare your home and roof for the storm systems heading towards the United States.

Below is a list of a few things we recommend you do to prepare your roof before a storm.

Clean Your Gutters
Before Hurricane season, we recommend you clean gutters so that they can handle the heavy rainfall and debris that can be brought it in with storms.

Once a storm hits, clogged gutters can cause water to overflow into unwanted areas.

Prepare Your Yard
Take some time before a storm to trim any limbs or branches that overhanging towards your home/roof-line.

You should be sure that any loose items in your yard have been secured. Doing this will help to prevent strong winds from picking up items from around your house and creating roof-damaging debris.

Inspect Your Attic and Roof
To help make sure that your roof is ready to withstand strong winds and rain it is a good idea to take a walk through your attic and make sure there isn’t any visible moisture or water leaking through.

Don’t stop with the interior of your home. A roof that is already compromised doesn’t stand a chance against even a small storm system. Be sure that any loose tiles or shingles on your roof have been securely fastened down.
