Orange Park, FL — Clay County

Your Orange Park Roof Has
Been Through More Than You Think

Homes in Clay County were built when 20-year shingles were standard. Those shingles are now 35 to 40 years old, and Florida insurers are noticing. JA Edwards of America handles the inspection, the claim, and the installation so you don't have to figure it out alone.

Why Orange Park Homeowners Are Dealing with Insurance Pressure Right Now

Clay County grew fast between the 1970s and 1990s, and a lot of that housing stock was roofed with 20-year architectural shingles. Those homes are now carrying roofs that are well past their intended lifespan, and Florida's insurance carriers are paying attention. If your carrier hasn't flagged your roof yet, there's a reasonable chance they will at your next renewal. The state of the Citizens market and the private insurers pulling out of Florida have made roof age a bigger underwriting factor than it's ever been.

Orange Park also sits in a geography that accelerates wear in ways that don't get talked about enough. The St. Johns River creates consistent humidity through the year, which pushes moisture into aging shingles and the wood underneath. Add in the nor'easter wind events that come up the Atlantic corridor from late fall through spring, and a roof that might last 25 years in Georgia wears out closer to 18 or 20 here. By the time a homeowner notices something's wrong, the damage has usually been compounding for a while.

What does a roofing company in Orange Park, FL actually do? A licensed roofing contractor handles everything from the initial inspection through material selection, permitting with Clay County, installation, and final walkthrough. If storm damage is involved, that also means documenting the damage the way your insurer needs to see it, walking you through the claims process, and coordinating with the adjuster so the scope of work is covered properly before any installation begins.

JA Edwards of America operates out of our Jacksonville office at 4570 St. Johns Ave and serves Orange Park, Fleming Island, Middleburg, and the surrounding Clay County area. We're a GAF Master Elite contractor with President's Club 3-Star status, one of only three companies in Florida to hold that designation. Call (904) 367-2913 to schedule a free inspection.

Roofing Services We Provide in Orange Park

Roof Replacement

Full tear-off and replacement with GAF shingles, standing seam metal, or concrete tile. Every replacement in Clay County includes permit filing, final inspection, and a manufacturer-backed warranty tied to our Master Elite status. We don't subcontract the installation.

Storm Damage and Insurance Claims

When a storm moves through Northeast Florida, the damage to an older roof isn't always visible from the ground. We inspect the entire roof surface, document what we find with photos and written scope, and walk you through the claims process with your adjuster. The goal is to make sure what's covered gets covered.

Insurance Renewal Inspections

If your carrier is requiring a roof inspection before renewing your policy, we can get a licensed inspector out to your property and provide the documentation your insurer needs. This is becoming one of the most common calls we get from Clay County homeowners.

Roof Repair

Missing shingles, flashing failures, soffit damage from wind, active leaks. Not every roof problem is a full replacement. We'll give you an honest assessment of whether a repair makes sense or whether the underlying condition makes replacement the smarter call.

Metal Roofing

Standing seam metal is a serious long-term option for Orange Park homes, particularly those near the river where moisture is a constant factor. Metal doesn't absorb moisture, it carries a 40 to 50-year lifespan, and it handles nor'easter wind loads in a way that 3-tab shingles never could.

Commercial Roofing

We carry a General Contractor license (CGC1534283) in addition to our roofing certification, which means we can handle commercial flat and low-slope systems, multi-family roofing, and HOA projects in Clay County. If the scope goes beyond residential, we're equipped to take it on.

How the Process Works When You Call Us

1

Free Inspection

A project manager comes out, gets on the roof, and gives you an honest picture of what's there. No cost, no obligation, no sales pressure.

2

Scope and Documentation

We put together a detailed scope with photos and written damage notes. If insurance is involved, this is the document your adjuster uses to evaluate the claim.

3

Insurance Coordination

If you're filing a claim, we work directly with your adjuster through the process. You don't have to be the middleman between us and your insurance company.

4

Installation and Warranty

Our own crew does the installation. When it's done, you get a manufacturer warranty backed by our GAF Master Elite status, and we do a final walkthrough before we leave the job site.

Why Orange Park Homeowners Choose JA Edwards

01

We Know Clay County's Permit Process

Permitting through Clay County's Building Department has specific documentation requirements that trip up contractors who don't work here regularly. We file everything correctly the first time, which keeps your project on schedule rather than sitting in a revision queue.

02

The Jacksonville Office Is Close

Our team is based at 4570 St. Johns Ave, which means when we say we can have someone at your Orange Park home within a day or two of your call, that's not a marketing claim, it's a practical reality. We're not dispatching from out of town.

03

We're Honest About What a Roof Actually Needs

If your roof genuinely needs replacement, we'll tell you and explain why. If a repair will hold for another five years and replacement makes no financial sense right now, we'll tell you that too. Our business runs on referrals in this market, and that only works if people trust what we say.

04

Insurance Experience That Actually Matters in Northeast Florida

The insurance situation in Northeast Florida has gotten complicated. Carriers are inspecting more aggressively, denying more claims, and writing policies with stricter roof age requirements. We've seen this shift happen in real time across our Jacksonville-area jobs, and we know how to document damage in a way that holds up when an adjuster reviews the file.

We had a terrible experience with this roofing company during a consultation for my roofing needs. The representative we dealt with, Liam, was extremely rude, dismissive, and at times unprofessional in the way he spoke to us.
Instead of answering basic questions about the process and pricing, he came across as impatient and disrespectful, which made the entire interaction frustrating and uncomfortable. A consultation is supposed to be helpful and build trust, this did the exact opposite.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company. I suggest looking elsewhere if you expect professionalism and basic customer service.

Honestly, these guys were awesome. From the start, JA Edwards was super easy to deal with and kept everything straight with me. Bates was very patient and friendly. The crew showed up when they said they would, knocked the job out, and cleaned everything up after. My roof looks great, and the whole process was way less stressful than I expected.

I definitely recommend JA Edwards.

Adam and the company stuck with us through the whole process (insurance companies aren’t always eager to help). We were able to get our roof replaced because of them. The crew that worked on our house was very quick and did a very thorough clean-up.

We had an outstanding, top-tier experience working with Liam Cates at JA Edwards of America. Initially, our insurance company pushed back on replacing our 72-square roof, but Liam stepped in, took charge of the claim, and seamlessly secured a full replacement. He truly stands out in the roofing industry—not just for his expertise, but for his genuine care for homeowners and commitment to doing what’s right. This is the first company we’ve ever felt confident referring. Their communication was excellent, and the quality of their workmanship exceeded our expectations. Our new roof looks incredible. Thank you Liam!

We had an incredible experience with Lucas Samartino from JAEA. The attention to detail and service was top notch. He followed up on any concerns or suggestions we had even during weekends. The installers were very respectful and detailed. The roof looks amazing and they clean the surroundings from debrie and nails after completing the job. I will recommend their service and prducts to anyone. We had everything done a month ago. Great job so far.
Thanks a lot.

Questions We Hear From Orange Park Homeowners

Insurance-required roof inspections in Clay County are straightforward but need to be done by a licensed contractor. The inspector documents the condition of the roof surface, estimates the remaining useful life, notes any existing damage, and provides a signed report that your carrier can use to make their underwriting decision. If the inspection turns up issues that need to be addressed, we'll walk you through what that means and what your options are before anyone commits to anything.
For a standard 1,500 to 2,500 square foot home in Orange Park, a shingle roof replacement typically runs between $10,000 and $18,000 depending on the pitch, the material grade, and what condition the decking is in underneath. Metal roofing runs higher, generally $18,000 to $32,000 for the same footprint, but carries a significantly longer lifespan and better moisture resistance given the St. Johns River humidity. These are ranges, not quotes. The only way to get an accurate number is to have someone on your roof. Our inspections are free and there's no obligation to proceed.
Storm damage coverage in Florida depends on your specific policy and how the damage is documented. Age of the roof matters, cause of damage matters, and the quality of the inspection report matters a great deal. We inspect and document storm damage the way adjusters need to see it, with photo evidence, damage notes by area, and written scope that aligns with standard insurance claim language. We can't guarantee what your carrier will approve, but we can make sure your claim is presented as completely and accurately as possible. Many homeowners are surprised by what does get covered when the documentation is done properly.
Yes, every full replacement we do in Clay County includes permit filing and the required final inspection with the county building department. This is not optional. A roof replacement done without a permit creates problems when you sell the home, and Florida insurers are increasingly checking for permit records before underwriting policies. If a contractor offers to skip the permit to save you money or time, that's not a benefit, it's a liability that comes back to you as the homeowner.
Orange Park sits on the St. Johns River, which creates year-round humidity that accelerates wear on any roofing material. For most homeowners, a high-quality architectural shingle with good impact resistance ratings is the most cost-effective long-term choice. If budget allows, standing seam metal is worth serious consideration here because it doesn't absorb moisture the way asphalt does and handles the nor'easter wind loads this area sees from fall through spring significantly better. Concrete tile is also durable but adds weight load that older framing sometimes can't accommodate without additional structural work.
A typical single-family residential replacement in Orange Park runs one to three days depending on the size and pitch of the roof. The permit filing with Clay County adds some lead time before installation starts, typically three to seven business days depending on current volume at the building department. If you're working against an insurance deadline or a closing date on a home sale, let us know upfront so we can plan around your timeline. We don't schedule jobs we can't finish on time.
It means the warranty on your roof is backed differently than what most contractors can offer. GAF's Golden Pledge warranty, which we can issue as a Master Elite contractor, includes both material and workmanship coverage for up to 25 years. The standard contractor warranty only covers materials. The 3-Star President's Club designation means our installation work has been audited and certified at a level only three roofing companies in Florida have reached. When you're putting a 25-year warranty on a roof, the question worth asking is whether the company that installed it will still be operating in 25 years. We've been in Florida since 2004. That's the answer to that question.
